Alabama Department of Public Health responding to Hurricane Katrina

The Alabama Department of Public Health is utilizing all of its available resources to respond to Hurricane Katrina. Routine services at local county health departments may be temporarily interrupted as employees of the Health Department assist in providing care to hurricane victims.

"During this time our department is focused on ensuring that individuals impacted by the hurricane receive necessary medical assistance, including making sure that shelters are staffed and operational," said State Health Officer Dr. Donald Williamson.

Services routinely available at county health departments may be interrupted as the department responds to this enormous disaster. Residents should call their local county health departments for further information on any scheduled changes of routine operations.
